The dollar rebounded after sliding to a new low Tuesday against the euro, which peaked at $1.3643 in light post-holiday trading.

In late New York trading, the euro was quoted at $1.3609, down from its record high and from Monday’s late rate of $1.3620. The euro’s previous high of $1.3640 was set Monday.

So far in 2004, the dollar has shed around 8 percent vs. the euro and the British pound, and 4 percent against the yen.
