L.A. Daily News: Los Angeles Seals May Cost More to Change

Los Angeles County officials are worried that it may cost more than $700,000 to replace official county seals on thousands of items because new decals don’t cover the Christian cross on the old design, the Los Angeles Daily News reported.

The cross on the original seal shows through new $1,800 decals that were purchased to cover them, the newspaper said. The county now will have to pay to remove the old seals and put up new cross-less versions, which will increase costs beyond the original estimate.

County supervisors voted in June to replace the seal after the American Civil Liberties Union of Southern California threatened to sue if the cross wasn’t removed.
