The Real Y2K

I enjoyed Frank Swertlow’s article about the New Year’s Eve parties in the “new millennium” (“Some Pricey New Year’s Eve Parties Already Sold Out,” Sept. 27). While some hotels and restaurants may be excused for calling Jan. 1, 2000 the first day of the new century and new millennium in order to get top prices, I am surprised that the LABJ is using this terminology. For the record, the first day of the 21st century and the new millennium is Jan. 1, 2001. I hope the New Year’s Eve parties are less expensive that night.
