Give Monorail a Chance

You recently published my letter offering brilliant advice to solve the transportation dilemma: monorail. And what did your editorial two weeks later suggest as solutions to the MTA disaster? (“Not Rail But What?” Jan. 19) “A network of… alternatives, including buses, diamond lanes and light rail.” In other words, more of the same failed methods now in use.

Can’t you even propose a monorail study? Can’t you conceive of innovation? You propose more surface-clogging, cost-prohibitive “solutions.”

Your ideas are no better than anything offered by the MTA Board. Is New Times the only paper with new ideas? Propose a monorail study. There are systems in use all over the world and dozens of companies competent to build a system. Ask one of those companies to present a series of articles on “How to.”

All of the rights of way are in place now.
