Hollywood Theater

TrizecHahn announced last week that it will build a new 3,300-seat venue for the annual Academy Awards show (and other events) as the centerpiece of its $350 million entertainment-retail project next to the historic Mann’s Chinese Theatre. TrizecHahn recently completed a ground lease with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, which owns the development site, and is hammering out a financing agreement with the Community Redevelopment Agency.

The deal keeps the annual awards show in Hollywood; unhappy with both the Shrine Auditorium and the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, the academy had been flirting with the Orange County Performing Arts Center in Costa Mesa.
