Leonard Green & Partners has announced the appointment of Peter Nolan to general partner. The private merchant banking firm is located in Los Angeles. Nolan served as a managing director and co-head of the Los Angeles investment banking office of Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette Securities Corp. prior to joining Leonard Green.

Lois R. Rice has been appointed director of premier banking for Wells Fargo Bank. Rice, who previously served as executive vice president at the bank, will manage the sales and servicing staff of the bank division that manages affluent customers.

Sumitomo Bank of California announced the appointment of Kenneth S. Kasamatsu as manager of its Los Angeles main office. Kasamatsu is a senior vice president with Sumitomo and recently served as manager of the bank’s main office in San Francisco.

Steven Daniel Madrigal has been promoted to vice president in the business banking center division at Union Bank of Califonria. Madrigal is a business relationship officer and based at the bank’s Beverly Hills office. Union Bank has also promoted Alice Marie Reardon to vice president in the product management and development division. She is a senior product manager and is based at the bank’s Monterey Park office.

Consulting

Roy Gonella has been promoted to worldwide partner at the Los Angeles office of William M. Mercer Inc. Gonella’s responsibilities include assisting major employers in the development of human resource strategies. Mercer is a human resources management consulting firm.

Entertainment

Paul N. Saleh has been named senior vice president and treasurer of Walt Disney Co. Saleh’s responsibilities include all treasury functions and risk management. Saleh was with Honeywell Inc. prior to joining Disney.

Doug Gleason has joined Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc. as senior vice president of marketing for MGM consumer products, a division of the MGM Home Entertainment/Consumer Products Group. Gleason’s responsibilities include overall marketing of all MGM licensed properties and marketing of the MGM studio store’s planned future expansion. Gleason served as vice president of publicity and promotion for Twentieth Century Fox International prior to joining MGM.

All-Comm Media Corp. has announced the appointment of Jeremy Barbera as chairman and chief executive officer of All-Comm Media. Barbera previously served as All-Comm’s president and chief operating officer. Culver City-based All-Comm provides database marketing services, custom telemarketing and telefundraising service to clients throughout country.

Stephanie Long has been named executive director of marketing and public relations of In-Finn-Ity Direct. Long will create marketing plans and publicity campaigns for infomercials and traditional television programming for In-Finn-Ity. Long served as vice president of Jane Ayer Public Relations prior to joining In-Finn-Ity.

MGM Pictures has appointed Damon Lee vice president of production. Lee’s responsibilities include finding and developing properties for feature-film consideration. Prior to joining MGM, Lee served as vice president of production for Silver Pictures.

Gary L. Ferrell has been named senior vice president of business development and chief financial officer for public television station KCET-TV. Ferrell will be responsible for all financial operations at KCET including The Store of Knowledge and The Puzzle Place Entertainment Centers. Ferrell previously served as senior vice president of KCET. His new role includes the responsibility of identifying new funding sources and the expansion of revenue-generating activities.

Sharon Markowitz has been named senior director of licensing and merchandising for Saban Entertainment Inc. She will oversee development of major licensing category opportunities including multimedia, publishing and apparel. Saban Entertainment Inc. has also named Frank Keating marketing director of the Saban licensing and merchandising department. Keating joins Saban from Disney Consumer Products where he developed and managed marketing strategies for animated and live-action films.

Sony Pictures Entertainment announced the appointment of David Lee Hankin as vice president of business affairs for Columbia TriStar Interactive. Hankin will be responsible for negotiating and formulating business alliances for Sony Pictures Entertainment and Columbia TriStar Interactive. Prior to joining Columbia, Hankin served as counsel to the law firm of Brown, Raysman, Millstein, Felder and Steiner.

Law

Jonathan S. Morse has joined the law firm of Lane Powell Spears Lubersky as a partner. His specialty is aviation law. Prior to joining Lane, Morse practiced with the Los Angeles firm of Kern and Wooley.

McCutchen, Doyle, Brown & Enersen announced the appointment of Richard C. Field as partner in the law firm’s Los Angeles office. Field is a commercial litigator with trial experience in federal and state court cases. Prior to joining McCutchen, Field practiced with the firm of Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft.

Manufacturing

Thompson PBE Inc. has appointed Michael O’Donovan chief financial officer of the Marina del Rey-based firm. O’Donovan has served as the firm’s vice president – corporate controller prior to the promotion. Thompson is a distributor of paint and related supplies to the automotive collision repair industry.

Personnel

Battalia Winston International has appointed Michael McClain as vice president and managing director of its Los Angeles office. McClain’s past experience includes senior level executive search assignments in consumer products, financial services and healthcare. He was formerly associated with DHR International and the Shotland Group.

Robert M. Barker has been named director of security at the Port of Long Beach. Barker is responsible for the port’s 24-hour patrol and security coverage. Previously, Barker worked for the Los Angeles Police Department and the United States Secret Service.

CaliforniaMart has announced the appointment of Alanna Chaffin as director of communications. She will oversee all corporate communications, including public relations. Chaffin served as a marketing manager at Maddocks & Co. prior to joining CaliforniaMart.

Nick Pappas has been appointed president of the Los Angeles division of Stewart Title of California Inc. Stewart Title of California is a subsidiary of Stewart title Guaranty Co. in Houston.

Korn/Ferry International has named Michael L. Boxberger chief executive officer of the Los Angeles-based executive search firm. Previously, Boxberger served as president of the firm. Boxberger is the first non-founder to be named to the position.

Real Estate

Julien J. Studley Inc. has announced the appointments of Scott Katcher and Jeff Lasky to the positions of associate director. Katcher will focus on tenant representation throughout the Los Angeles area with clients in advertising, entertainment, high technology and publishing. Lasky provides tenant representation services to clients throughout Southern California with an emphasis on the West Los Angeles market.

Deloitte & Touche has appointed Daniel S. Barrett leader of the western region hospitality and gaming practice. Barrett, a senior manager at the firm, will continue to lead the sports and entertainment consulting practice in the western region.

The architecture and engineering firm of Daniel, Mann, Johnson, & Mendenhall has announced two appointments. Kim Day has been promoted to vice president. Projects under her guidance include Ontario and Fresno Yosemite international airports. Sunnie House has been named associate vice president of the Los Angeles-based firm. House is responsible for management of projects including Caltrans bridge retrofit construction inspection throughout Southern California.

Retail

Mattel Inc. has named Francesca Luzuriaga executive vice president of worldwide business planning and resources. She will be responsible for worldwide business planning, logistics and inventory management, as well as direct oversight for integration and restructuring efficiencies. Mattel has also named Harry J. Pearce chief financial officer. Pearce joins El Segundo-based Mattel from Tyco Toys Inc. where he served as the chief financial officer.
