PAUL S. VIVIANO

President, Chief Executive Children’s Hospital Los Angeles

Paul Viviano joined Children’s Hospital Los Angeles in 2015 as president, chief executive and board member. Viviano previously served as chief executive of University of California, San Diego (UCSD) Health System and associate vice chancellor of UCSD Health Sciences, overseeing the $1.7 billion health care enterprise. Previously he was chairman and chief executive of Alliance HealthCare Services, the largest provider of advanced outpatient diagnostic imaging services in the United States. Viviano this year began the role of chairman of the California Children’s Hospital Association. He is also chairman of the board of trustees of Loyola Marymount University. He has held top executive positions at USC University Hospital and USC/Norris Cancer Hospital, St. Joseph Health System in Orange, Long Beach Community Hospital and Los Alamitos Medical Center.

What was your proudest moment?

My proudest moment professionally, by far, was my appointment by the Board of Children’s Hospital Los Angeles to serve as president and CEO. This world class, mission driven organization is a jewel and a treasure beyond compare.

What is your next project?

At Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, we are working collaboratively with a few local health care systems to develop an extensive network to expand pediatric care in the greater Los Angeles market.

Who is your hero?

My dear dad, Al, who was a Sicilian immigrant with an incredible, almost unreal work ethic and a heart to match, is my hero.

What do you like best about Los Angeles?

Los Angeles is the greatest city in North America; the diversity and the excitement is unparalleled.
