Alston & Bird

Jeff Rosenfeld, a partner at Alston & Bird, focuses his practice on trial and appellate litigation, with an emphasis on class action and other complex commercial litigation. His experience includes defending class action and high-stakes litigation in both state and federal courts across the nation. He has represented clients in a broad range of industries, including manufacturing, food and beverage, hospitality, finance, internet and software, electronics, real estate, energy and agriculture. Rosenfeld successfully defended an international semiconductor manufacturer in an implied warranty claim case and obtained favorable dismissals of class claims for an international cosmetics manufacturer. He also has served as counsel for a multinational beverage corporation, an ice cream brand and a large international insurance carrier in consumer class-action lawsuits.

What was your proudest moment?

The births of my two daughters. Chloe, a graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder and a fashion buyer for an East Coast retail chain, is engaged to former LABJ Commercial Real Estate Rookie of the Year Steven Goldstein, and Tatum will be starting as a 1L at USC Gould School of Law in the fall. I am immensely proud of both of them.

What is your alma mater?

I received my B.A. from California State University, Northridge and my J.D. from Pepperdine University.

What is your next project?

As a recent addition to Alston & Bird’s L.A. office, I’m hoping to help continue the tradition of serving clients with a premier complex commercial litigation practice, emphasizing class action defense for companies in a myriad of industries such as insurance, financial services, and food and beverage. I look forward to bringing the full breadth of services of our office and our firm to solving the business and legal needs of our clients, both locally and nationally.

Who is your hero?

My aunt, who recently lost her fight with cancer after 10 years of battling the disease with more dignity and strength than I could ever imagine. She spent her life, before and after her diagnosis, as a middle school counselor in an underserved community here in Los Angeles. Although her illness caused her to confront many challenges, she never complained or stopped caring for her students, community or family. When she passed, our family had the opportunity to meet many of her students and colleagues who came to her service to pay their respects, which is a true testament to the legacy she has left behind.

What do you like best about Los Angeles?

The diversity, not just of the people and cultures, but of the food, opportunity, and activity as well. Los Angeles is one of the few cities that has both a sophisticated and a casual side ¬– you can go from a hiking trail to a red carpet event in the same day – if you’re willing to sit in some traffic.
