CRE Awards 2019: Best Multi-Family Project

UDR’s Vision on Wilshire

Location: 6245 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles

Developer: UDR, Inc.

Contractor: MATT Construction Corporation

Architect: Steinberg Hart

A breath of fresh air in a bustling metropolis, the 18-story Vision on Wilshire blends the convenience of urban living with the freedom of a lofty sanctuary. The mixed-use luxury high-rise soars above the Wilshire corridor, one of LA’s busiest and most exciting arteries, offering residents access to nearby activities. A design-forward approach to urban living guided every aspect of the concept. The units are stacked for efficiency. The emerging cellular pattern on the facade shifts from level to level, lending the sense of a dynamic structure while interrupting the scale. Glass cladding adds to the exterior’s visual appeal and blends seamlessly with lower retail and parking levels. One-of-a kind end units with 270-degree views take advantage of the building’s geometry. The position of the tower itself, along with the residences, frames panoramic vistas of the surrounding San Gabriel mountains, Pacific Ocean, Griffith Observatory and other LA icons. Dining, recreation and lounge amenities on the upper levels, including a 60-ft pool and podium-level clubhouse, extend entertainment and event space from a perch breathtaking enough to rival any Hollywood Hills home.
