Cedars-Sinai Medical Center has graduated eight digital health startups from its business accelerator program with products designed to improve health care.

The Cedars-Sinai Accelerator graduated its fourth class on Oct. 9 during a Demo Day of company innovations that aim to improve health system efficiency and care through new artificial intelligence, hardware and digital platforms.

“The companies in this accelerator class are working at the forefront of technologies that can improve the delivery of care,” said Dr. Bruce L. Gewertz, chair of the Beverly Grove hospital’s surgery department, in a statement.

The 90-day Cedars-Sinai business development program, powered by Techstars, invests $120,000 in each company along with training, mentors, access to world-class doctors and executives and exposure to a global entrepreneurial network.

At the end of three months, the firms showcase their products at a “Shark Tank”-style Demo Day for investors. Startups from the last three accelerator classes have since raised closed to $100 million and hired roughly 200 employees.

Among the eight graduating companies from across the U.S. and abroad was Digital Medical Tech Inc., based in Playa Vista, which employs a Bluetooth platform to better track medical equipment in pilot programs at Cedars-Sinai and Keck Medicine of USC.

Nicolette Inc., based in Los Alamitos, announced contracts with Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and Children’s Hospital of Orange County for an app to guide parents of newborns in neonatal intensive care.
