Gores, who founded his private equity firm in 1995, owns the Detroit Pistons pro hoops franchise. A Michigan native, Gores and his wife, Holly, have three children and reside in Beverly Hills. He is an avid coach of youth sports and supports numerous philanthropic causes.

Recent transactions: Acquired Emerson Network Power (rebranded “Vertiv”) in a transaction valued in excess of $4 billion. Vertiv is a provider of infrastructure technologies for applications in data centers, communication networks, and commercial and industrial environments. Acquired Electro Rent, an L.A. equipment rental company that provides electronic test and measurement equipment, in a public-to-private transaction valued at more than $380 million. Acquired International Textile Group, a manufacturer of denim, wool, and specialty fabrics with operations in the United States, Mexico, and China. The company has 11 manufacturing facilities, 4,500 employees, and approximately $600 million in revenue. Sold Bway, a maker of package containers, to Stone Canyon Industries for $2.4 billion.
