Pluto TV, a free internet television service, has raised another $8.3 million in a round led by Samsung Venture Investment Corp., the venture capital arm of Samsung Group.

Samsung kicked in $5 million of the round, with the balance coming from other unnamed investors.

Pluto TV, located in Mid-Wilshire, raised $30 million in a Series B round of funding a year ago. Investors for that round included ProSiebenSat 1 of Germany and Scripps Network Interactive. It has raised $51.8 million altogether.

Founded in 2013 by Ilya Pozin and Tom Ryan, Pluto TV has nearly 100 channels organized into categories including music, sports, news, art and culture and education, among others.
