Univision Launches New Unit Making Multicultural Projects, Signs HBO Deal
Univision Communications Inc. has launched a new Los Angeles unit called Story House.

Univision Communications Inc. has launched a new Los Angeles unit to create multicultural projects.

Story House will develop and produce content in both English and Spanish for various Univision channels and other networks.

Among its upcoming projects is an HBO series called “Hate in America” which will investigate issues such as racism and anti-immigration.

The new venture is tapping into a network of Hollywood writers, directors and producers and the Spanish-language broadcaster’s own news archives in order to create fiction and nonfiction productions.

“There is a wealth of untold stories about Latin America and the cross-cultural experience in the United States,” said Juan Rendon, creative director for Story House. “The diversity of backgrounds and experiences that our team embodies gives us the ability to tell those stories in the most authentic way.”
