Tribune Publishing Moves to Fend Off Gannett

Directors of Tribune Publishing, owner of the Los Angeles Times, adopted a shareholder rights plan to fend off an unwanted acquisition offer from Gannett Co. The “poison pill” measure, in response to an offer the board deemed too low, would dilute holdings of any person or entity that acquired 20 percent or more of TPC common stock, Associated Press reports.
