Hong Kong gaming company Fifth Journey has signed partnerships with Universal, Lionsgate and MGM to develop mobile games for the Chinese market.

The studios are also taking an undisclosed equity stake in the gaming company. Fifth Journey will work with the movie studios to “culturalize” their movie-based games for Chinese markets.

“Asia is an enormous opportunity and challenge for Hollywood,” said Fifth Journey Chief Executive Eric Tan, in a statement. “So is building a great film franchise in this on-demand world. We built a company to solve some of Hollywood’s most pressing needs and these partnerships are a huge step forward.”

Fifth Journey closed a $2 million seed round of financing in August.
