Description: TaskUs is an outsourcing company that focuses on venture backed startups. Its 3,000 employee call center workforce in the Philippines provides customers support for 200 clients including Uber, Groupon, Tinder and Savings.com. The company said it is turning a profit on a $35 million annual revenue run rate and that it has plans to triple its headcount by the end of 2016.

Hyperloop

$8.7 million

Type: Equity

Location: Downtown Los Angeles

Investors: ZhenFund, SherpaCapital

Description: Though funding was announced to the press in February, Hyperloop, the pneumatic tube transportation company dreamed up by Elon Musk, formally filed its funding round with the Securities and Exchange Commission this week. This week Hyperloop also took delivery of the tubes it will use on its test track and said it is eyeing Los Angeles to Vegas as its first route.

Ninja Metrics

$2.9 million

Location: Manhattan Beach

Investors: 37Ventures led the round

Description: Ninja Metrics is a video game analytics company that helps advertisers find and market to influential players. By influencing the influential, Ninja Metrics’ game developer clients hope to indirectly persuade users to spend more money on their games and create deeper engagement.

Local ID

$1.9 million

Type: Equity

Location: Marina del Rey

Investors: Seed round led by Crosscut Ventures with participation from Technicolor, TenOneTen, Baroda Ventures, Double M Partners, Tallwave, Wavemaker Partners and Queens Bridge Venture Partners

Description: Local ID is a software program with a database of local marketing data information that brick and motor retailers can use to reach their prospective customers. The program also helps multistore businesses manage their staff and create performance profiles of their individual stores.
