What would L.A.’s business operators most like to see reduced in 2015?

Although the economy is doing well, from a selfish perspective, it would be housing prices. I tried to buy a house last year and got outbid twice. I think the market is going up so quickly it’s hard to be a first-time homebuyer within the city limits.

I would love to see traffic issues intelligently tackled. For example, how signal lights operate. It seems to me that there are no smart sensors in the system that would regulate the lights according to traffic, or lack thereof.

It’s not so much the regulations, but the amount of time it takes to get through them, specifically building approvals at City Hall. We need to create jobs faster and add new projects to the tax base sooner.

I would like to see less business regulation in Los Angeles in 2015, especially when it comes to minimum-wage regulations. Los Angeles business owners and operators are already subject to state wage and hour laws that are very favorable to employees.

Traffic. I’m wasting at least an hour a day on traffic, and that adds up to 400 to 500 hours a year. Improving public transit would be really good.
