Mark Burnett, a well-known television producer, has been named president of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc.’s television and digital unit, the Wall Street Journal reports.

MGM, which acquired 55 percent of Burnett’s television and film operations for $344 million last year, is buying the remaining 45 percent in deals worth $234 million, the company said Monday. The Journal reports that MGM’s United Artists Media Group, which holds the 45 percent stake in Mr. Burnett’s assets, will be folded into the MGM Television Group.
