Executives of Faraday Future, an electric-car company in Gardena modeling itself after Tesla Motors, announced Thursday that they have chosen North Las Vegas to build the company’s $1 billion production facility, the Los Angeles Times reports.

“We are eager to begin production of our vehicle of the future,” Faraday Future Vice President Dag Reckhorn said in a statement. “It will embrace the increasingly intrinsic relationship between technology and mobility.”

Nevada beat California as well as Georgia and Louisiana in the competition to be home for the plant.

However, Nevada lawmakers still have to approve the proposal.
