Lemonade Restaurant Group, a cafeteria-style restaurant chain based in West Hollywood, has sweetened a deal with global investment firm KKR of New York.

The firm has acquired a minority stake in the restaurant, which plans to use the additional capital to expand into new markets. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Ian Olsen, chief operating officer of Lemonade Restaurant Group, told the Business Journal the new funding will help round out the company’s corporate team.

“This is going to not just scale stores but scale in a way to attract some of the best talent,” Olsen said.

Horowitz Group of West L.A. was an early-stage investor and will continue to serve on the Board of Directors.

Lemonade was established in 2008 by Chef and Founder Alan Jackson. It operates 14 fast-casual restaurants in Southern California, with seven more in development, as well as one restaurant in Dubai. Jackson said he expects to have 40 locations by 2016. Lemonade has 600 employees.
