If restaurants raised prices 10 percent across the board to pay for higher minimum wages, would you dine out less?

My firm defends restaurants, bars and nightclubs in employment law disputes, and I’ll keep eating out just as often at the same venues and spending just as much to support our clients and the industry. That said, I’m worried that restaurants, many of which are already on thin profit margins, will suffer.

If the 10 percent increase were to be put into action, I would dine out as often as I currently do. I appreciate the hard work that goes into running a business and know first-hand that encouraging employees to succeed is essential.

A small increase like that wouldn’t decrease my dining out. It’s not a big jump at all. I also can’t see a large number of people restricting their dining out due to it.

I would just be bitter that overpriced Los Angeles food, while often tasty, is now even more overpriced.

My wife and I will probably eat out about the same. We’ll consider our usual places and also some less expensive restaurants. Given that the restaurant staff just received a significant wage increase, we might also take this into consideration when tipping.
