Web publishing firm Port Media Solutions has launched a news website to cover the Westside of Los Angeles, the firm announced on Thursday.

The site, LAWestMedia.com, will focus on the Westside communities of Santa Monica, Venice, Westwood and others nearby. Topics will include real estate, crime and restaurant reviews.

The site’s editor is Laurie Rosenthal, who was previously editor of the Santa Monica Mirror and a writer at the Palisadian-Post. The site’s publisher is Ned Goldstein, formerly an executive at Ticketmaster and a partner in Port Media, which provides services to digital publishers.

Port, which is based in Los Angeles and New York, also recently launched a sister site in the San Fernando Valley.
