What do you do when you see a problem – and the solution to that problem? If you’re Brenton Sullivan, right, you start a company. He wanted to play college baseball, but couldn’t get any recruiters interested. He managed to join the USC team as a walk-on. Then he decided to team up with Kai Sato to form a company that would solve that problem for other sports hopefuls by using social networking to help them achieve their goals. He and Sato, both 28, now run FieldLevel, a Santa Monica company with nine employees. (Their profile is on Page 30.) But they’re only two of L.A.’s young entrepreneurs. You can read about them and 18 others in this section, the Business Journal’s annual roundup of 20 Angelenos – still in their 20s – who launched and now run their own companies.
