Tian Lim has been named chief technology officer at Santa Monica video streaming service Hulu, the company announced Tuesday.

Lim, former senior vice president of product engineering at Sony Network Entertainment International, also spent eight years with Microsoft Corp. leading the development of the company’s Xbox Live service, Xbox 360 operating system and Kinect.

Mike Hopkins, Hulu’s chief executive, said in a blog post that Lim would start his position March 3.

“Under Tian’s leadership, with a world-class software development, operations and program management team behind him from our offices in Santa Monica to Seattle to Beijing, I know the future of our technology organization is extremely bright,” Hopkins said in the post.
