Box Office Rebounds on Christmas Weekend

After a rough year, the North American box office rebounded over Christmas weekend. The New Line and MGM film “The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies” took the No. 1 spot, taking in $54.5 million, while Universal’s World War II drama “Unbroken,” written by the Coen brothers and directed by Angelina Jolie, debuted at 47.3 million. “Into the Woods,” the film adaptation of the hit Stephen Sondheim musical, trailed not far behind at $46.1 million, The Guardian reports.
