Oversee.net Sells Domain Monetization Business

Downtown Los Angeles Web and mobile publisher Oversee.net has sold its domain monetization business known as “DomainSponsor” to Rook Media, a Swiss tech firm.

DomainSponsor is a service that populates unclaimed domains with advertising, pointing consumers who may have been looking for a product or service with a similar name to the advertiser’s sites.

Over the last few years, however, Oversee has focused on expanding its online portfolio of comparison-shopping sites in the travel, retail and credit markets. Some its sites include WanderWe.com, CreditCards.org and Compare.com.

Oversee purchased Pasadena’s Crashworks Inc. in January, a maker of a free city-guide app for iPhones, to serve as the foundation of travel site WanderWe’s forthcoming iOs app.

Oversee Chief Executive Debra Domeyer said in an interview that her goal for the company is to expand its portfolio of Web and mobile brands into different industries.

“I felt that’s where I want to go,” she said.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
