Walt Disney Co.’s Pixar Animation Studio cut about 5 percent of its workforce following a delay in the release of the studio’s next film, according to a report Friday.

Pixar, in Emeryville, is cutting a maximum of 60 positions out of a total of 1,200 employees following the delay of “The Good Dinosaur,” about an Apatosaurus that befriends a young boy, according to a report in Bloomberg News.

The film was originally to be released in May of next year but has been pushed back to November 2015.

The studio, in a statement, said it is always evaluating its creative and business needs.

“With the release date change of ‘The Good Dinosaur,’ we have realigned our production and support priorities, which includes a small reduction in our staffing,” the statement said.

Disney shares closed up 26 cents, or a fraction of a percent, to $70.20 on the New York Stock Exchange.
