Los Angeles electric vehicle and large battery developer Coda Holdings has acquired EnergyCS, a developer of battery management systems that is one of its partners.

Founded in 2001 by Peter Nortman and based in Monrovia, EnergyCS designs and builds monitoring and control systems for large-format, high voltage batteries.

Coda said late Wednesday that EnergyCS will enhance Coda’s stationary energy storage products and upcoming line of electric vehicles. The acquisition also will enable it to provide more competitive pricing and custom applications for electric vehicle propulsion systems sold to other companies. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“EnergyCS has been an integral partner in the development of our all-electric vehicle,” Coda Chief Executive Phil Murtaugh said in statement. “Their skilled engineers, technological expertise and ongoing commitment to improving the performance of battery systems have proven to be an invaluable partner.”
