National Bank of California on Thursday said that its board had appointed Henry Homsher as chief executive and president, and Peter Koos as chief operating officer.

The Brentwood bank, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of NCAL Bancorp, said Homsher will also serve on the board. Koos also will hold the title of executive vice president.

“Henry and Peter are both veteran banking leaders who bring valuable expertise to our already strong management team,” said Joseph Kornwasser, who has served as interim chief executive since Barry W. Uzel, a bank co-founder, died in November.

Both men have more than 30 years of experience in the banking industry. Homsher was chief executive at Frontier State Bank/Frontier Bancorp in Redondo Beach and later Pacific Coast Bankers Bank in San Francisco in the early 2000s. Most recently, he was founder and president of bank consultantcy Alternative Strategies LLC in Cypress.

Koos is also a former chief executive at Frontier State Bank, and held similar top roles at Continental Bank of America in City of Industry, where he was a founder, and at Golden Security Bank in Rosemead. He also has bank consulting experience.
