AeroVironment Inc. said Wednesday Chief Financial Officer Stephen Wright has resigned to pursue “other business opportunities.”

The Monrovia maker of unmanned aircraft systems and electric-energy systems said Jikun Kim, who became AeroVironment’s controller last June, will serve as interim CFO.

Wright has been CFO since September 2002. While his resignation is effective immediately, he will remain with the company to the end of its fiscal year on April 30.

Wright’s “financial stewardship successfully supported AV’s rapid growth and prepared the company to operate in the public equity markets,” said Chief Executive Tim Conver in a press release. “I thank Steve for his contributions and wish him well in his future endeavors.”

Shares closed down 86 cents, or 3 percent, to $26.11 on the Nasdaq.
