Sí TV Gets Funding

Sí TV on Monday said that it raised $24 million through equity and debt financing to operate and expand its Latino-focused cable TV network.

The Los Angeles company said the equity investments came from the network’s existing investor group, but it did not elaborate.

The network launched in 2004, with $60 million in private equity and industry funding as the first cable network to provide entertainment for bicultural Latinos in English. Its backers included EchoStar, Time Warner, Columbia Capital, Rho Ventures, Llano Partners and company co-founder Barshop Venture.

Chief Executive Michael Schwimmer said the money strengthens Sí TV’s financial position and will support creation and acquisition of programming for the network’s American Latino target audience.
