Disney Battles Time Warner Cable with New Website

In a further escalation of a high-stakes standoff over television-programming fees, Walt Disney Co. has started a website slamming Time Warner Cable Inc. over the company’s tactics in renegotiating a TV contract.

Time Warner Cable’s agreement to air Disney-owned channels such as ESPN, the Disney Channel and some ABC local stations expires after midnight on Sept. 2. The two sides are negotiating over fees Time Warner Cable must pay Disney to air the channels.

If the two sides don’t reach a deal, it’s possible popular programming such as football games and “Modern Family” could be blacked out from millions of homes.
