LARRY STEIN
, 48
FIRM: Latham & Watkins LLP
LAW SCHOOL: Stanford University Law School
CLIENTS: Allergan, Amgen, Beckman Coulter, Spectrum Equity Investors
YEARS IN PRACTICE: 23
Reason I’m a Lawyer: I have always liked analytical puzzles, and I enjoy trying to explain complex ideas in understandable language. For those reasons, I thought that law might be a good field for me. I was very fortunate that one of my law professors and a classmate both suggested that I might find tax appealing, as I discovered that practicing transactional tax law requires both of those skills in abundance.
If I Weren’t an Attorney: I would be a math or statistics teacher.
Bucket List: Play a round of golf at Augusta National, Visit the Taj Mahal, bike the California Coast (and get in good enough shape to do it!), pilot a jet plane.
My Colleagues Don’t Know: Our 8-year-old daughter has me wrapped around her finger.
