Mobile Messenger said Monday that it acquired its mobile messaging aggregator, m-Qube Inc., from VeriSign Inc. for an undisclosed amount.

Mobile Messenger, a private equity-controlled Los Angeles mobile solutions provider, offers secure SMS text-messaging advertising, direct marketing, and content delivery services for media brands, content providers, marketers and agencies. It is m-Qube’s largest client.

Under terms of the agreement, Mobile Messenger acquired m-Qube’s direct connections to carriers in the US and Canada, and its business delivering standard commercial messaging and premium mobile content to customers throughout North America.

“Our acquisition … links our capabilities directly to U.S. and Canadian carriers, strengthens our commitment to provide full-service mobile solutions and gives our clients the unmatched opportunity to deliver dynamic services and content,” Chief Executive Michael Iaccarino said in a statement. Mobile Messenger is majority owned by Cupertuno private equity firm Silver Lake Sumeru.

Qube’s Boston office will become a Mobile Messenger business unit and serve as the Los Angeles company’s global technology headquarters. Newly appointed Chief Technology Officer Purandar Das will oversee the technology operations from Boston.
