Race Track Redevelopment Moves Ahead

The Inglewood Planning Commission this week endorsed a proposal for a $2.1 billion mixed-use development project at the 238-acre site of the iconic Hollywood Park race track.

The development proposed by Stockbridge Real Estate Funds, a San Mateo-based investment firm that bought the property in 2005, includes shops, restaurants, parks and homes.

Stockbridge? proposal must still be approved by the Inglewood City Council, which is scheduled to consider the plan on May 28.

If approved, the park? owners said they?l close the current facility and begin demolishing the track by Aug. 1.
