Specialty Investment Firm SSI Acquires Froley Revy

SSI Investment Management Inc. said Monday it will acquire the Froley, Revy Investment Co. Inc. for an undisclosed price, combining two Los Angeles area investment firms specializing in convertible securities.

SSI, based in Beverly Hills, said the current principals of Froley, Revy in Westwood will have an ownership stake in SSI. Andrea Revy O’Connell joins the SSI board of directors and the investment policy committee and will continue to manage long-only portfolios. Convertible securities are typically issued as bonds that can be converted to stocks.

“We have known the Froley, Revy team for many years and are excited to bring the strengths of both organizations to our respective clients,” said Chief Executive Amy Jo Gottfurcht in a statement. “With convertible securities well-positioned to achieve attractive returns, clients will benefit from broadened research capabilities and cross-pollenization of investment ideas.”

Both companies were formed in the mid-1970s. SSI which manages investments for corporate and public pension plans, endowments, foundations, and high-net-worth individuals, is employee-owned.
