L.A.’s PortBlue Corp. on Monday said it has agreed to sell its main product, the CommandAware hospital incident management system, for an undisclosed amount.

The buyer, Concerro Inc. of San Diego, provides web-based workforce management software for health care facilities.

CommandAware, whose subscribers include hospitals in Los Angeles County and South Florida, enables medical facilities to better participate in regional disaster response, as well as manage day-to-day hospital bed capacity.

“The acquisition of CommandAware expands our customer base, broadens our product line, and accelerates our strategy of capturing a larger market share of software-as-a-service applications that assist healthcare organizations improve the efficiency of patient care delivery,” Concerro Chief Executive Graham Barnes said in a statement.

In a Business Journal article last year, Port Blue executives said their key innovation was the Knowledge Capture Tool development platform, which enabled the company to rapidly create and adapt custom applications for clients without employing programmers. CommandAware was developed on that platform.

PortBlue had been developing other products based on the technology, but had set them aside to focus on CommandAware. Chief Executive Paul Dimitruk could not be reached for comment on the company’s plans.
