TVN-Avail Media Merger Closes

The merger of Sherman Oaks video-on-demand company TVN Entertainment Corp. with Avail Media in Reston, Va., has been completed.

The combined company, rebranded Avail-TVN, will provide content from more than 200 partners, including Hollywood movie studios, cable networks and independent producers, to more than 46 million homes and 120 million consumers via cable and other media.

“With our combined product and service portfolio, we are able to deliver the most attractive and profitable video services today as well as the foundation to extend these services to new devices and networks tomorrow,” Chief Executive Ramu Potarazu said in a statement.

The merger was announced in May. Columbia Capital, National Rural Telecommunications Cooperative, Novak Biddle Venture Partners, Pioneer Ventures and Valhalla Partners provided financial backing for the deal. The value was not disclosed. Former TVN CEO Doug Sylvester becomes president of the TVN division.
