Mayors: OC-LA No. 2 in U.S. Job Losses in ’09

The O.C.-Los Angeles-Long Beach area is expected to suffer the second-largest drop in jobs among U.S. metropolitan areas this year, with only the New York City area being worse, reports the U.S. Conference of Mayors.

The mayors’ “Metro Unemployment Forecast” projects the SoCal area will lose 164,100 jobs from November 2008 to November 2009. NYC will be down an estimated 181,800.

SoCal unemployment is expected to hit 9.8% this November, up from 8.7% in November 2008, says the report.
