AWR Corp, which develops software for high-frequency radio and microwave product design, said Monday it acquired Simulation Technology and Applied Research Inc., a developer of three-dimensional analysis software.

With the purchase, Simulation Technology becomes a wholly owned subsidiary of El Segundo-based AWR under the direction its founder, Dr. John DeFord. Simulation will remain based in Wisconsin. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

AWR makes high-frequency electronic design automation software that can reduce development time and cost for products ranging from cell phones to satellite systems.

Simulation Technology makes software for 3D simulation of how components operate at radio or microwave frequencies. AWR purchased Simulation because its technology requires less computer power than its competitors. Simulation’s technology has been used for analysis at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory and the Naval Research Laboratory.
