Torrance Mayor’s Firm Named in Suit

The tow-truck company owned by Torrance Mayor Frank Scotto was named in a lawsuit brought by a Rolling Hills Estates man who claims he was assaulted by a driver from the firm.

In the Torrance Superior Court lawsuit, which also names then-Scotto employee Nathaniel Nash, Randal Pierson alleges he sustained a broken left arm and concussion as a result of the February 2007 incident outside the Torrance Marriott.

Pierson also accuses Scotto or his agents of an attempt “to engage in a coverup and otherwise attempt to interfere or actually interfered in the Torrance Police Department investigation directly and through the owner’s political connections as mayor of the city of Torrance.”

But attorney Christopher Driscoll, of the Los Angeles firm Jonas & Driscoll, who filed the lawsuit on behalf of Pierson and his wife, Kristy, acknowledged the charge is actually somewhat of a legal fishing expedition.
