A children’s TV channel jointly owned by Walt Disney Co. and German broadcaster RTL is buying a German online community site for mothers called Mamily for an undisclosed sum.
The Disney-affiliated channel that will use Mamily, Super-RTL, has been updating its program to expand its kid-centric audience to parents too. Deutsche-Startups.de reported the transaction Sunday.
Cologne-based Mamily, which launched in March 2007 with funding from Holtzbrinck Ventures, enables new German mothers build online and in-person social connections.
Disney shares were down 31 cents, or 1.6 percent, to $18.52 in morning trading on the New York Stock Exchange
