Lionsgate Signs Mobile Partnership

Lions Gate Entertainment said Friday that it had it signed an agreement with Spanish mobile content provider Zed to co-develop entertainment projects based on the Santa Monica studio’s films, TV programs, music and original mobile programming.

The agreement will place Lions Gate content on the Madrid company’s global network of mobile operators in the form of video, ring tones, wallpaper, games.

Zed, which has its U.S. operations in Denver, develops and markets entertainment products and other content and services for 130 mobile operators in 53 countries.

“We’re excited to form our global partnership with Zed to create a powerful new industry model for mobile entertainment,” said Curt Marvis, Lions Gate’s president for digital media.

Lions Gate share closed down 8 cents, or 1 percent, to $9.51 on the New York Stock Exchange.
