Northrop Files Motion on Boeing Protest

In an escalation of the fight over a $40 billion U.S. Air Force aerial tanker jet contract, victor Northrop Grumman Corp. filed a motion Wednesday attacking key aspects of Boeing Co.’s protest with the Government Accountability Office over how the winning team was picked, the Wall Street Journal reports.

Los Angeles-based Northrop said that many of the issues in Boeing’s protest are “untimely,” such as Boeing’s objections to how the Air Force used a sophisticated model to evaluate the tankers’ performance on military missions, analyzed cost and schedule data as well as other contract parameters. The issues could have been addressed well before the companies submitted their final proposals, Northrop said.

A Northrop Grumman said that it filed the “motion as an effort to clear the air and afford the GAO the opportunity to do its job without distraction.”
