Walt Disney Co. said Tuesday that it will begin to offer movies for free on its Web site starting this summer.

In an effort to increase visitors to its Web site, the Burbank-based entertainment company said it will offer free titles such as “Finding Nemo” and “Monsters Inc.” that will be sponsored by advertisers.

The films, which will air first on its ABC network on Saturday nights throughout the summer, will be available to watch on Disney.com the following week.

Shares in Disney rose 1.9 percent to $33.80 in early trading Tuesday.
