Teledyne Technologies Inc. said Tuesday that a subsidiary has completed acquiring the assets of Webb Research Corp., considered the world’s leading manufacturer of self-directed underwater gliding vehicles.

Webb, based in E. Falmouth, Mass., will assume the name Teledyne Webb Research and operate under the Teledyne Instruments Inc. umbrella, the Thousand Oaks-based company said

The gliders, which use a proprietary technology to convert ocean waves into power, can be used in oceanographic research and military surveillance. Webb Research had sales of $12.2 million for its 2007 fiscal year.

Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
