Internet Brands Buys Nine Sites

Internet Brands Inc. said Thursday that it has acquired nine automotive and leisure Web sites. Financial terms were not disclosed.


The acquisitions include eight sites focused toward auto enthusiast and a leading site for dog owners, the El Segundo-based company said in a statement.


The acquisitions are part of an effort by the Internet company to increase its monthly unique visitors, which it now expects will to 29.1 million from 26.8 million.


The eight automotive sites will be integrated into the Internet Brands automotive category, which has 35 community-based auto enthusiast sites, including AudiWorld.com, ClubLexus.com and CorvetteForum.com.


Also acquired was PuppyDogWeb.com, which provides listings from private dog breeders.


Shares in Internet Brands closed down 2.9 percent Thursday to $7.97 and continued to lose another 2.1 percent in early trading Friday to $7.80.
