Walt Disney Co. and its ESPN sports network on Tuesday announced separate digital media acquisitions designed to expand their overseas audiences.

Burbank-based Disney said it acquired for an undisclosed amount the parenting Web site Raisingkids.co.uk to bolster its new family portal in the United Kingdom that will offer information, advice and social networking.

Raisingkids will be integrated with UKfamily.co.uk, which Disney launched July 17, according to Disney Interactive Media Group. Raisingkids has 142,000 unique visitors a month and a registered database of 100,000 parents. The site’s founder, child psychologist Pat Spungin, will remain with the company.

ESPN Inc. said it bought a racing Web site called Racing-Live.com, which offers live updates of motor racing, to expand its online coverage of that sport. The site, based in Montpellier, France, attracts 3 million users a month, ESPN said, and covers competitions including Formula 1, endurance sports-car and kart racing. ESPN did not disclose the purchase price.
