Walt Disney Co. said Monday that its Interactive Studios division acquired a Chinese game developer while its international licensing division inked a deal with one of Russia’s largest independent broadcasters.

Disney Interactive acquired Gamestar, one of China’s leading independent video game software developers with locations in Shanghai and Wuhan, Burbank-based Disney said in a statement. No financial terms were disclosed.

Gamestar was founded in 2002 and employs 90. This marks the sixth acquisition by Disney Interactive.

Separately; Disney said its international TV licensing arm signed a multi-year licensing deal with CTC Media Inc., one of Russia’s leading independent media companies.

The deal covers the licensing of features, live action series, animated series and made-for-TV movies made by Disney-ABC International Television. The CTC Network the flagship of CTC Media is the fourth-most watched broadcaster in Russia, CTC said in a release.

Included in the deal are features such as: “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest,” “National Treasure: Book of Secrets,” “Enchanted,” as well as “There Will Be Blood” and animated movies such as “Cars” and “The Incredibles.”

This is an extension of a licensing deal between CTC and Disney signed in 2004.
