Applebee’s Shareholders OK Ihop Deal

Shareholders of Applebee’s International Inc. approved the $1.9 billion acquisition offer from Ihop Corp. Tuesday.


More than 70 percent of the shares that were voted approved the agreement, which had been opposed by some shareholders as undervaluing the company.


Under terms of the deal, shareholders of Overland Park, Kan.-based Applebee’s will be paid $25.50 per share, a 4.6 percent premium on shares the day before the deal was announced.


The deal is expected to close by Nov. 29.


Shares in Ihop were up 10 cents to $62.78 in afternoon trading Tuesday on the New York Stock Exchange.
